VICTORY IN HIS NAME

1 John 5:4
Victory is an act of conquest, achievement of mastery or success in a struggle against difficulties. It is to excel or succeed and the defeat of an enemy or opponent in a battle. In Biblical usage, to be victorious is to overcome and win the battle against sin, the devil and all his cohorts; it is to gain Heaven at last and reign with Christ eternally. The great privilege of Christians is the promise of victory in the name of Jesus Christ, because He promised us in His word in 1 John 5:4 that “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” In His victory, we can face and overcome the challenges of life. The world is full of evil but the promise of the Lord helps the believer to overcome the world and at the mention of the name of the Lord Jesus Christ every knee bows (Phillipians 2:10-11).

We are victorious in Christ Jesus because He has paid it ALL for us (1 Corinthians 15:57), in Him we have salvation, deliverance, healing, dominion, peace, joy, protection, wholeness among others, and ALL these He has given freely. He has made us whole, which means those that are yet to accept Him and those who are lukewarm are incomplete and so, deficient. As Children of the most High God, we must exercise our dominion in Him, we must trust Him as we surrender ALL our cares and worries at His feet daily, putting Him first in ALL our affairs, making Him our Lord and Guide in our daily endeavours (Proverb 3:5-6).

Through Christ, we are victorious over satan, sin, sicknesses and pain, trials and temptation, and even death. He said come unto me ALL Ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. In Him we have peace, not like the one given by the world. The power of His victory cannot be quantified, it is innumerable. To enjoy this victory, we need to pray daily and allow His Spirit to guide us. We are to feed on His word, our roadmap to Heaven. We are to guard our salvation jealously by avoiding objects of temptation so that we can continually enjoy the benefits of our blessed blood bought victory. May the Lord help us in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ Amen.
