Comparison with others
A major source of sadness
And of dissatisfaction
If permitted to fester
“I’ll like to be like that man
Who is so free, got no cares
Oh I envy that brother
And I want to be like him”
“He has a school and I don’t
See his houses I’ve got none
He is so rich but I’m poor
Oh I wish to be like him”
“She just bought an SUV
I’m still riding an old car
Her kids have a gorgeous look
Mine are not exactly so”
“We were mates many years back
How come he is now ahead
I’ll do whatever I can
I must be ahead of him”
With carnal comparison
The devil now takes over
Tells you you can’t wait for God
Ruins your joy his aim your soul
Comparing self with others
The bane of many a soul
Through it many have been lost
And eternal doom their lots
My dear brethren let’s be wise
Be content with what we have
The Lord knows our every need
In due time He’ll answer us
While we wait for the right time
Of our change to better heights
Let us not be complacent
With no vision for greatness
Let’s be dutiful and wise
Giving our duties our best
Diligence and faithfulness
Will make our lots much better
