THE POTENCY OF GOD’S WORD
The word of God is God Himself, it is alive and active. The heaven and earth were established with the power of His word. His word is a lamp for the feet and path of His followers (Psalm 119:105). The word of God is a mighty tool in the hands of God’s children, they are meant to equip Christians and help them confront the forces of darkness. The word of God is sharper than any two edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing of the soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and disposition of the heart. The word of God should not be taken as an option for a true child of God, it is the pillar that holds our stand in Christ, it is the food and drink to our body, soul and spirit. There are some challenges that will not give way without the weapon of the word of God, therefore we must strive to know the word. No wonder God Himself said that He esteemed His word more than His name, and even if heaven and earth pass away, nothing out of His word will go unfilled (Matthew 24:35). The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever because HE IS THE WORD. When He says a word, it must come to pass. His words are Yes and Amen (2 Corinthians 1:20).
To be a true child of God, we must not only listen to His words but we must obey it (James 1:22). This is the only way to stay on the path of purity (Psalm 119:9). God refers to those who obey His word as being blessed (Luke 11:28). Most of the miracles performed by Jesus came through the power of His words even to the raising of Lazarus from dead. The power of His word runs through the Old and New Testaments. He worked through the old prophets in the Bible and with the disciples in the new testament, by the power of His word. We have a lot to benefit from studying and obeying the word of God. It helps our physical life and gives us victory in spiritual warfare. It saves, delivers, protects, provides, cares, instructs, inspires, guides and comforts us. The profit we derive from God’s word is all encompassing.
Beloved, you cannot claim the power of God without His words. We need daily dose of His word to build up our body, soul and spirit, it is the milk that nurtures God’s children to grow. Our anchor in Christ rests on the word of God. It is our rod and staff, our daily bread. We should keep it as oil to our lamp like the five wise virgins. Prayer supported with the pronouncement of God’s word and promises as it applies to our request, is very potent. Activities backed up with the word of God result in divine breakthrough. It is very obvious we cannot detach ourselves from His words, it makes us whole. May the Lord give us divine understanding of His words and grace for obedience in Jesus name, amen.
