THEIR FAINTED CRY

The house was engulfed with fire and smoke
Everyone ran out so they didn’t choke
Mummy counts each person, all the folks
Little John’s missing, this’ not a joke

Oh my little boy, I’ll go get him
The crowd held her tight with a grim
Big brother sighted John at the Brim
Jump, we catch you, you won’t break a limb

That was John Wesley the great preacher
He would have died ere his great future
God preserved his wonderful creature
Fire didn’t kill that holiness teacher

Ethiopian eunuch, Jerusalem bound
Craving for God, despite his background
He read Isaiah, the words confound
The Spirit bids Philip come around

Philip met him reading the Scriptures
He preached Jesus showed him the picture
He repented and got the Saviour
He was baptized, now a new creature

All around us, there are fainted cries
Souls searching for freedom, hear their sighs
This age’s running to a close, time flies
Reader, reach out now, before they die

There is an open door where you are
Give heed, you don’t have to look afar
Children, neighbours, colleagues, there they are
Show them the way, the Word has the power

You’d be shocked that those you never thought
Are hungry for the words you never taught
Preach the word, intercede as you ought
God seeks souls, so precious is their worth

Fuel the fire within lest it dies out
You will give account there is no doubt
You want God to hear your faint cry-out
Pray, give your time, let your passion sprout

When it’s all over, the Christian race
The midnight cry, we meet Him in space
May we with joy see Him face to face
With converts we had won by His grace
