PARENTS, WHAT EXAMPLES DO YOU SHOW?

What examples do you show
To your little ones at home
What impressions do you make
On their contrite simple hearts

When you snap at dad and nag
And your words so hostile are
When you won’t just pick his calls
What examples do you show

When with mum you won’t discuss
But the ‘silent treatment’ give
When mum’s food you would refuse
What examples do you show

When the Bible you won’t read
And at pray’rs you sleep and snore
When to church you’re always late
What examples do you show

When the shop you wouldn’t close
Though it’s time to go to church
When the service you would miss
What examples do you show

When the pastor you discuss
At your mealtime in the home
When you gossip and backbite
What examples do you show

Some have lost their little ones
‘Cos of these and many more
If you’re guilty please repent
Pray to God and He’ll forgive

Live the way our Lord would live
Lead your children not astray
Christ’s example to them show
So the Lord they’ll know and serve.
